Beer Advent Day 11: Winter Skal

winter-skal

Brewery:  Capital Brewery

Location:  Middleton, WI

Style:  Winter Seasonal  ABV: 5.8%

Contributed By:  Chase Prochnow (Thanks Chase!)

I have been looking forward to this beer ever since it was contributed.  My buddy Chase speaks very highly of this beer and I long for the time that I can visit a local small town Wisconsin tavern to get a Winter Skal on tap.  (Chase says that this is the best way to enjoy this winter seasonal).

Capital Brewery brewed their first beer in the spring of 1986 and was founded to brew traditional German style lager.  Capital has since branched out to brew American ales, barrel aged beers, and distinct IPA’s.  Capital Brewery’s brewmaster is Ashley Kinart, an alum of UW Madison and a member of the Pink Boots Society.  Pink Boots Society is a national organization that empowers women beer professionals to advance their careers in the beer industry through education.

As you enjoy Winter Skal I hope that you sit by a window and watch the falling snow in peace and warmth!  Cheers!

Advent Reflection:               Psalm 2:6-8
As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill. I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.”

Here is a video that artistically represents the first coming of Messiah!

Today marks the third Sunday of Advent.  Here is a prayer from the Book of Common Prayer:

“Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and forever. Amen”

  1. OK but the hit of malt then hop then mal then hop got tiresome quick. Dont get me wrong I love a beer that starts with a malt hit then leaves hoppy flavor at the end but this one just kind of alternated too much for me.
