Brewery: Bell’s Brewery, Inc.
Location: Comstock, MI
Style: Belgian-style white ale ABV: 5.2%
This is our second beer on our Beer Advent calendar that is brewed in a quality brewery from Michigan. Bell’s Brewery, Inc. began in 1985 serving beer from a 15 gallon soup kettle. It has since grown (obviously) to a leading craft brewery in the US. Bell’s Brewery, Inc. is dedicated to brewing flavorful, unfiltered, quality craft beer with the on-going goal to brew thoughtfully, creatively, and artistically.
The Winter White Ale on tap for tonight takes its cues from a Belgian-style white ale. It offers a lighter yet abundantly flavorful alternative to the traditional heavy winter warmers of the season. The intriguing thing about this White Ale is that it is not aided by any spices. The Belgian ale yeast blended with barley & wheat malts yields a mixture of clove and fruity aromas. Bell’s Winter White Ale is brewed deliberately to retain a cloudy appearance. It is indeed a beer for embracing winter, although the weather outside certainly doesn’t feel like winter…………yet!
Advent Reading: Luke 1:39-45 Mary’s Visit To Elizabeth
39 In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah,
40 and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
41 And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit,
42 and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
43 And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”
