Brewery: Potosi Brewing Company
Location: Potosi, WI
Style: Belgian Style Witbier, ABV: 5.5%…..Witbier is a Belgian Style ale that’s very pale and cloudy in appearance due to it being unfiltered and the high level of wheat that’s used in the mash. Always spiced, generally with coriander, orange peel and other spices or herbs in the back ground. The crispness and slight twang comes from the wheat and the lively level of carbonation.
Potosi Brewing Company was founded in 1852 and started off as a simple service to quench the thirst of area farmers, fisherman, and miners. The brewery has changed hands since its beginning but still thrives on honoring the beer culture in Wisconsin. The town of Potosi itself boasts a rich beer history. In 2004, because of its passion for beer, brewery history, and beer making culture, Potosi was chosen over Milwaukee and St. Louis to be the home of the National Brewery Musuem. Not bad for a small town in western Wisconsin!
Enjoy this Wee Stein Wit from the wee little town of Potosi, WI. Cheers!
Advent Reading: Luke 1:1-4 An Account From Eyewitnesses
Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us,
2 just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us,
3 it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,
4 that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.
(Luk 1:1-4 ESV)
Reflect on: When you think of Christmas, what first comes to mind?
Well I hope everyone enjoyed this beer as much as I did. I’ve never had a witbier before, and I thought I had a great taste to it. Looking forward to the days to come and to try different beers!
Cheers to the beginning of a great holiday,
Kyle

I have not traditionally been a fan of wheat beers. This is by far the best I have had and it will not be the last time I drink it! The subtle orange taste was light & refreshing. Bravo. I hoped to discover just a few beers that I was unaware of that I could enjoy. This is a great start!

When I think of Christmas the first thing that comes to my mind is the manger scene. Mary and Joseph surrounded by farm animals, a star hovering over the stable, shepherds and wisemen kneeling before the manger and a baby neatly wrapped in a white cloth.

When I think of Christmas the three things I thing of are my many blessings from God including my wife & children, I think of the smiling faces of children as they anticipate opening their presents and I think of a packed church loudly singing traditional Christmas Hymns.

Hi all!
When I first think of Christmas, I immediately think of two things: family and Mary. This season of parties and gift sharing and time off from work allows us to spend time with loved ones, especially the ones from far. When I think of actual Christmas, the birth of Christ, I really think of Mary. As a teacher of high schoolers, I see Mary in them when I look hard enough — hope in something bigger than herself, fear of the unknown, and a society that doesn’t fully accept them quite yet. Mary was so brave and strong. When I think of her strength and steadfast devotion to God’s plan for her, Christmastime becomes a season of trust, too!
PS I liked the beer… did anyone else taste a hint of banana?!
